Frequently Asked Questions

An IP PBX, often called a PABX in Indonesia, is a company's own phone system. It connects the desk phones, softphones and mobile apps in your offices, lets staff call each other with short extensions, and routes calls to and from outside lines such as SIP trunks or the public phone network. An IP PBX does this over your data network instead of separate phone wiring. MiVoice Business is Mitel's IP PBX, supplied, installed and supported in Indonesia by SURIA.

A traditional analog or digital PABX needs its own phone wiring and phone lines. An IP PBX runs over your computer network, so it supports SIP trunks, softphones, mobile apps and remote staff, and is easier to extend to new offices. Many IP PBXs, including MiVoice Business, can still connect existing analog phones and lines, so you can move over in stages.

It depends on how you prefer to pay for and manage the system. An on-premises PABX runs on equipment in your office or data centre: a one-off purchase, full control, and internal calls keep working if the internet goes down. A cloud PABX runs in a data centre or public cloud: lower upfront cost, monthly fees, and easier support for remote staff. MiVoice Business can run either way: as an appliance, on your own virtual servers, or on AWS and Azure.

MiVoice Business is designed for small to large enterprises with up to 65,000 users, offered as a physical appliance or cloud deployment. MiVoice MX-ONE targets very large enterprises and service providers needing over 500,000 users with carrier grade redundancy across hundreds of distributed sites.

The Small Business Controller is a compact version of MiVoice Business designed for organizations with up to 150 users. It includes six built in analog FXS ports and delivers full unified communications features without the need for a dedicated server, making it ideal for small offices and branch locations.

Yes. MiVoice Business includes Single Number Reach across up to eight devices, a mobile softphone, and a built in CloudLink Gateway for encrypted teleworker connectivity. Remote and hybrid employees receive the same calling features and experience as staff working from the office.

MiVoice Business is particularly well suited for SMB and mid-market organizations, retail chains, healthcare facilities, hospitality groups, and educational institutions. It includes purpose-built integrations for healthcare nurse call systems, hospitality property management systems, and financial services compliance recording.
